About Halifax statements

Halifax statements share the Lloyds Banking Group format, so if you handle both brands the converted output lines up column for column.

How to download your Halifax statement as a PDF

Sign in to Halifax online banking, open the account, choose Statements, and download the PDF.

Always take the statement file the bank issues rather than printing a transaction list from the browser. The issued statement is the document of record, and it converts more reliably than a printed page.

What a Halifax statement looks like

Statements list date, payment type, details, paid out, paid in and balance.

Halifax quirks to watch for

These are the details that break a copy-paste into Excel, and the reason a Halifax statement rarely lands cleanly on the first try:

  • Reward account credits post monthly as their own entries.
  • Payment type codes match the wider Lloyds group convention.
  • Overdraft interest is charged on a separate cycle from the statement period.
  • UK statements print dates day first, so 03/04 is the third of April. Dates are normalised on export so Excel cannot silently read them as March 4th.

What you get back

Every Halifax conversion returns the same columns, in GBP, so statements from different months and different accounts stack in one spreadsheet without rework:

DateTypeDescriptionAmountBalance
2026-03-04DDCARD PAYMENT TO SUPERMARKET-64.202,481.19

Check the export before you use it: opening balance plus the sum of the amount column should equal the closing balance printed on your Halifax statement.

Why not just export from Halifax directly?

Use the direct export when it covers the period you need. It rarely does. Direct CSV, OFX and QBO downloads are usually capped at a recent window, while PDF statements stay available for years, and they are the only thing left once an account is closed. Converting the PDF removes the date limit entirely.

Frequently asked questions

+Is Halifax the same format as Lloyds?

Very close, since both sit in Lloyds Banking Group, so converted files from either brand stack neatly in one spreadsheet.

+Are reward credits exported?

Yes, as dated credit rows.

+Is the Halifax statement converter free?

Yes. No signup, no email and no watermark on the output. The only limit is a 10MB file size.

+Do you store my Halifax statement?

No. The PDF is processed in memory to build the CSV and is never written to disk or retained.

+Is this service affiliated with Halifax?

No. This is an independent tool with no connection to Halifax. It reads a PDF you already have and never connects to your account.
