Bank Statement Convertor

Bank statement conversion for lending

Underwriting a self-employed applicant means reading three to twelve months of statements and answering three questions: what comes in reliably, what goes out reliably, and is anything hidden in between.

What analysis needs from the data

Averages are meaningless if transfers count as income or a month is missing. A converted statement set gives you dated, signed rows across the whole period, which is what makes the calculation defensible:

  • Average monthly credits excluding internal transfers
  • Recurring commitments such as loans, cards and subscriptions
  • Days at or below zero, and any returned or unpaid items
  • Gambling, high-cost credit and other flags underwriting policy cares about

The original PDF is still the evidence

A CSV is an analysis artefact, not a verification document. Lenders verify against the original statement, and in many markets against a bank-issued or open-banking feed. Convert to analyse, retain the PDF to evidence.

Spotting an altered statement

Conversion surfaces inconsistencies that skimming misses. If the amount column does not sum to the printed closing balance, or the balance chain between months breaks, that is a discrepancy worth investigating before it reaches a credit decision.

Handling applicant privacy

Applicant statements are personal financial data under GDPR and equivalent regimes. Files are processed in memory and not retained here, but your own retention, access control and disposal obligations apply to everything you download.

Frequently asked questions

+Can a converted CSV be used as verification?

No. It is an analysis tool. Verification should rest on the original statement or a bank-sourced feed.

+Does it work on statements from any country?

Yes, including UK, Canadian and Australian layouts with their different column and date conventions.

+How do you handle applicant data?

The PDF is processed in memory to produce the output and is not stored. Your own data protection obligations still apply to the files you keep.
