About Capital One statements

Capital One 360 statements are among the cleanest in US banking: a simple chronological table with a running balance. That makes them fast to convert and easy to reconcile line for line.

How to download your Capital One statement as a PDF

Sign in at capitalone.com, open the account, choose Statements, and download the month as a PDF.

Always take the statement file the bank issues rather than printing a transaction list from the browser. The issued statement is the document of record, and it converts more reliably than a printed page.

What a Capital One statement looks like

A single Account Activity table runs the full statement period with date, description, amount and balance, preceded by a short summary of deposits, withdrawals and interest.

Capital One quirks to watch for

These are the details that break a copy-paste into Excel, and the reason a Capital One statement rarely lands cleanly on the first try:

  • Transfers between 360 sub-accounts appear on both statements, so combining them can double-count if you are not careful.
  • Interest paid lines are dated the last day of the cycle regardless of when it accrued.
  • Older ING Direct era statements use a different, narrower layout.
  • US statements print dates month first, which is what a US-configured spreadsheet expects.

What you get back

Every Capital One conversion returns the same columns, in USD, so statements from different months and different accounts stack in one spreadsheet without rework:

DateDescriptionAmountBalance
2026-03-04CARD PAYMENT TO SUPERMARKET-64.202,481.19

Check the export before you use it: opening balance plus the sum of the amount column should equal the closing balance printed on your Capital One statement.

Why not just export from Capital One directly?

Use the direct export when it covers the period you need. It rarely does. Direct CSV, OFX and QBO downloads are usually capped at a recent window, while PDF statements stay available for years, and they are the only thing left once an account is closed. Converting the PDF removes the date limit entirely.

Frequently asked questions

+Does this work with Capital One credit card statements?

Yes. Card statements list transactions by post date with the merchant description intact, which converts cleanly into an expense sheet.

+Can I convert several Capital One accounts at once?

Convert each statement PDF separately, then add an account column in your spreadsheet so the rows stay attributable.

+Is the Capital One statement converter free?

Yes. No signup, no email and no watermark on the output. The only limit is a 10MB file size.

+Do you store my Capital One statement?

No. The PDF is processed in memory to build the CSV and is never written to disk or retained.

+Is this service affiliated with Capital One?

No. This is an independent tool with no connection to Capital One. It reads a PDF you already have and never connects to your account.
