Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask before uploading a statement, answered plainly.
Frequently asked questions
+Which banks does the converter support?
All of them. The layout is read from the document rather than matched against a per-bank template, so major banks, small credit unions, app-only accounts and overseas banks all work. Around 59 banks have their own page because they are searched for often, not because the list is a whitelist.
+What file formats can I download?
CSV and an Excel workbook. CSV is the right choice for importing into QuickBooks, Xero, Wave, Sage, YNAB and most other software.
+What columns are in the output?
Date, description, amount as a single signed number, and balance where the statement prints one. The same shape comes back for every bank so files stack in one spreadsheet.
+Can it read a scanned or photographed statement?
Yes. Image-based PDFs are read visually rather than through text extraction. Accuracy depends on scan quality, so verify the total against the closing balance on any scanned document.
+How accurate is the extraction?
On text-based statements it is very high, because the characters are read directly rather than guessed. The honest answer for any converter is that you should check: opening balance plus the sum of amounts must equal the closing balance.
+Are withdrawals negative?
Yes. Statements that print withdrawals as positive numbers under a withdrawal heading are read in context, so the sign comes out correct in the export.
+Do you store my bank statement?
No. The PDF is processed in memory to produce your file and is never written to disk or retained. There is no account, so there is no file history.
+Is there a file size limit?
10MB per statement, which covers a normal monthly statement comfortably. Very long documents are better split into shorter periods, which also makes each result independently verifiable.
+How long does a conversion take?
Usually 10 to 30 seconds depending on the number of transactions and whether the statement is scanned.
+Can I convert several statements at once?
Conversion runs one statement at a time. That is deliberate: each result can be checked against its own closing balance before you combine them.
+Does it work with credit card statements?
Yes. Purchases export as negatives and payments as positives, which is what accounting software expects for a card account.
+Is it really free?
Yes. No signup, no email capture, no watermark and no row limit.
