About ANZ statements

ANZ statements follow the Australian withdrawal, deposit and balance pattern, and business customers often convert them for BAS and quarterly reporting.

How to download your ANZ statement as a PDF

Sign in to ANZ Internet Banking, open the account, choose Statements, and download the PDF.

Always take the statement file the bank issues rather than printing a transaction list from the browser. The issued statement is the document of record, and it converts more reliably than a printed page.

What a ANZ statement looks like

Statements list date, transaction details, withdrawals, deposits and balance.

ANZ quirks to watch for

These are the details that break a copy-paste into Excel, and the reason a ANZ statement rarely lands cleanly on the first try:

  • Withdrawals and deposits sit in separate columns.
  • Descriptions include the transaction channel such as EFTPOS or direct debit.
  • Day-month date order throughout.
  • Australian statements print dates day first and often omit the year in the table. Both are normalised on export so nothing shifts on import.

What you get back

Every ANZ conversion returns the same columns, in AUD, so statements from different months and different accounts stack in one spreadsheet without rework:

DateDescriptionAmountBalance
2026-03-04CARD PAYMENT TO SUPERMARKET-64.202,481.19

Check the export before you use it: opening balance plus the sum of the amount column should equal the closing balance printed on your ANZ statement.

Why not just export from ANZ directly?

Use the direct export when it covers the period you need. It rarely does. Direct CSV, OFX and QBO downloads are usually capped at a recent window, while PDF statements stay available for years, and they are the only thing left once an account is closed. Converting the PDF removes the date limit entirely.

Frequently asked questions

+Is this useful for BAS preparation?

Yes. A clean CSV of the quarter is the fastest way to total GST-relevant transactions in a spreadsheet.

+Are EFTPOS descriptions preserved?

Yes, the full description text is kept.

+Is the ANZ statement converter free?

Yes. No signup, no email and no watermark on the output. The only limit is a 10MB file size.

+Do you store my ANZ statement?

No. The PDF is processed in memory to build the CSV and is never written to disk or retained.

+Is this service affiliated with ANZ?

No. This is an independent tool with no connection to ANZ. It reads a PDF you already have and never connects to your account.
