About CIBC statements

CIBC statements are dense but consistent, and the transaction descriptions carry enough detail to categorise most rows without extra lookup.

How to download your CIBC statement as a PDF

Sign in to CIBC Online Banking, open the account, choose Statements, and download the PDF.

Always take the statement file the bank issues rather than printing a transaction list from the browser. The issued statement is the document of record, and it converts more reliably than a printed page.

What a CIBC statement looks like

A dated table lists description, withdrawals, deposits and balance across the statement period.

CIBC quirks to watch for

These are the details that break a copy-paste into Excel, and the reason a CIBC statement rarely lands cleanly on the first try:

  • Service fee bundles are itemised at cycle end.
  • Dates omit the year inside the table.
  • Some accounts print a transaction count summary used for fee calculation.
  • Canadian statements frequently omit the year inside the transaction table. The year is taken from the statement period, including periods that cross into January.

What you get back

Every CIBC conversion returns the same columns, in CAD, so statements from different months and different accounts stack in one spreadsheet without rework:

DateDescriptionAmountBalance
2026-03-04CARD PAYMENT TO SUPERMARKET-64.202,481.19

Check the export before you use it: opening balance plus the sum of the amount column should equal the closing balance printed on your CIBC statement.

Why not just export from CIBC directly?

Use the direct export when it covers the period you need. It rarely does. Direct CSV, OFX and QBO downloads are usually capped at a recent window, while PDF statements stay available for years, and they are the only thing left once an account is closed. Converting the PDF removes the date limit entirely.

Frequently asked questions

+Is the transaction count summary exported?

No, it is a fee calculation aid rather than a ledger entry.

+Do CIBC credit card statements convert?

Yes, with purchases negative and payments positive.

+Is the CIBC statement converter free?

Yes. No signup, no email and no watermark on the output. The only limit is a 10MB file size.

+Do you store my CIBC statement?

No. The PDF is processed in memory to build the CSV and is never written to disk or retained.

+Is this service affiliated with CIBC?

No. This is an independent tool with no connection to CIBC. It reads a PDF you already have and never connects to your account.
